Please note that all of our classes are cancelled until 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Beginners / Improvers class runs alongside our general class on Monday evenings in the Dell Farquharson Centre, 7:30pm-8:45pm.  The class caters for complete beginners as well as returning dancers who would like to build their confidence before joining the general class.

During the first part of the evening, our qualified teachers look at some of the steps and formations and how they are used within two or three dances.  Having mastered the dances in the class upstairs, they move down to the general class for the second half where there is an opportunity to go through the dances again.

Classes build towards our end of term party night when everyone comes together for the evening to enjoy all of the dances learned during the term.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What sort of shoes should I wear? Most dancers wear ballet shoes or ghillie dance shoes. When you’re starting off, we recommend wearing / bringing soft shoes that allow you to move your feet, but not shoes which have a non-slip sole (like trainers).

Do I need to join at the start of term? New dancers are welcomed at any point in the term, although in general dancers with less experience may find it easier to start early in the term as formations and dances generally progress in difficulty through the term.
